Large container carriers canceled calls to the port of Rotterdam

The Alliance’s large container carriers, including Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, HMM, and Yang Ming, have announced the cancellation of ship calls to the port of Rotterdam on three services Asia-Northern Europe (FE4) within seven weeks due to the port’s congestion.

Last week, for the same reason, ship calls to Hamburg were canceled. In general, the arrival of container ships from Asia to the United States is delayed by an average of 20 days. This situation has arisen due to a number of factors: the congestion of ports, a shortage of container equipment, and a lack of carrying capacity.

According to analysts, the normalization of the schedule can only be expected in the second half of 2022, when deliveries of new container ships of various capacities and additional container equipment will begin.
